Positive Parenting group

A group for parents, and prospective parents, interested in the Attachment Parenting (AP) model.

The aim is to provide a forum for parents to exchange information and resources, make friends and seek support.

Attachment parenting refers to a range of practices centred principally around listening to the child and responding to their needs appropriately and empathetically. The principles of AP are:

  • Prepare for pregnancy, birth and parenting
  • Feed with love and respect
  • Respond with sensitivity
  • Use nurturing touch
  • Ensure safe sleep, physically and emotionally
  • Provide consistent and loving care
  • Practice positive discipline
  • Strive for balance in personal and family life
We will be discussing topics including babywearing, natural term breastfeeding, discipline, weaning and schooling.

The group is free to attend, although small donations of items or cash towards the tea caddy, toybox, library and facilitator training will be gratefully accepted. Chidren are, of course, welcome.

The group meets on the 3rd Monday of the month at 11.30am, in the Goddess Hall on Benedict St (behind the church) in Glastonbury.

We are aiming to become affiliated with Attachment Parenting UK
